Each piece begins with an authentic L.L.Bean Lightweight Field Coat, in khaki chosen for its timeless silhouette, beautiful utility, meant-to-be-lived-in character, and season-spanning wear.

The jacket is then painted entirely by hand by Valerie McKeehan just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, using professional artist materials selected for use on fabric.

The Tennessee Meadow Field Jacket is inspired by the countryside and meadow behind Valerie’s home, a landscape that has found its way into her paintings for years.

Wildflowers, tall grasses, Queen Anne’s lace, and tiny signs of life are painted by hand on the back and front, transforming a classic field jacket into an original piece of wearable art. Designed to be worn often, loved well, and become even better with time.

The exact placement of the flowers, bees, brushstrokes, and small details will vary from jacket to jacket. Your piece will share the spirit and overall design of the jacket pictured here, but it will never be an exact replica.

Each jacket is made to order in your selected size and painted individually by hand. Because of the nature of this process, please allow 5 weeks for your jacket to be completed before shipping.

Your finished jacket will be an original and will naturally vary slightly from the piece photographed.
